Dial Up Networking Setup Instructions for Win 95 and Win 98

The following instructions will enable you to configure your systems dialup networking to connect to Eagles Nest, Ltd. and CrossLink.

Step 1: Click the START button, then Settings,
then CONTROL PANEL. Double click the
ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS icon. Select the
WINDOWS SETUP tab then click on the
COMMUNICATIONS option, and and click
DETAILS. Make sure that the DIAL UP
NETWORKING option is checked. If it is click on
CANCEL twice and go to step 2. If it isn't, place
a check mark next to it and click OK WIndows 95
will attempt to install the needed drivers, so
make sure you have your copy of Win 95 handy.
Now that DIAL UP NETWORKING installed you
can move to step 2.

Step 2: Click the START button, then Settings, then
CONTROL PANEL. Double click the NETWORK icon.
Make sure that the configuration tab is selected. If both
DIAL-UP ADAPTER and TCP/IP are present then
you're ready for step 3. To add the DIAL UP ADAPTER,
hit the ADD button double click ADAPTER, select
MICROSOFT, choose the DIAL UP ADAPTER and click
OK. Then you must install the TCP/IP protocol, click
ADD, double click PROTOCOL then select
MICROSOFT, then TCP/IP and hit OK. Now your
NETWORK DIALOG box should contain both the DIAL
UP ADAPTER and TCP/IP protocol. Select DIAL-UP
ADAPTER click PROPERTIES and select BINDINGS
make sure that TCP/IP is checked. Now your ready for
step 3

Step 3: Click on the TCP/IP protocol and press the
PROPERTIES button. You should get the TCP/IP properties
box. Click in the DNS CONFIGURATION tab. Select the
ENABLE DNS option. This stands for Domain Name
Services. Enter your user name in the HOST box. In the
DOMAIN box, type "crosslink.net" (without the quotations). In
the DNS SERVER SEARCH ORDER you should see three
dots in a box , enter 206.246.64.1 starting from left to right
then click ADD, this should move the numbers you entered
into the box below. Then type 207.199.128.1 and do the
same thing. Press the OK button, then press OK in the
NETWORK dialog box, Windows 95 will ask you to reboot,
click yes. Proceed to step 4.

Step 4: Open up MY COMPUTER from
the desktop and double click the
DIAL-UP NETWORKING icon. Double
click the MAKE NEW CONNECTION
icon, click NEXT. Enter "CrossLink
Internet" for the name of the computer
that you're dialing. Then select the
modem you want to use. Next, enter
your local access number. **NOTE** If
you live in Maryland, be sure to enter all
10 digits (i.e. 301-630-0105). Click,
NEXT, than FINISH, an icon called
"CrossLink Internet" should appear in the
DIAL UP NETWORKING folder.

Step 5: Right click on the newly created
"CrossLink Internet" icon. Select PROPERTIES.
Make sure that the telephone number you
entered before is shown in the "Telephone
Number" box. Also, make sure that the "Use
Country Code and Area Code" box is NOT
checked. Then click on SERVER TYPES.

Step 6: Make sure that LOG ON TO NETWORK in the
ADVANCED OPTIONS is not checked. Also make sure
that NetBEUI and IPX/SPX are not checked, only
TCP/IP should be checked. Click on the TCP/IP
SETTINGS button to the right of TCP/IP.

Step 7: Select SPECIFY NAME SERVER
ADDRESSES. For Primary DNS enter
206.246.64.1 for Secondary DNS enter
207.199.128.1 Click OK then click OK again in
the SERVER TYPES dialog box. Click OK again to
the DIAL UP NETWORKING dialog box. Click OK
again to to go back to the DIAL UP NETWORKING
FOLDER. Right click on the "CrossLink Internet"
Icon and select CREATE SHORTCUT. Answer
YES to place the shortcut on your desktop.
