Getting Online With Us

  MSIE Version 3.X and Windows 95

These Instructions are for setting up or modifying your Internet Mail setup in MS Internet Explorer 3.0X if the instructions on the previous page were not correct for your system. Please follow these instructions very carefully and you should have no problems.

1.  Start your Internet Explorer browser by clicking the Internet Icon on your desk top. (You don't have to be online to do this)

2.  Click on the Mail button on the top row of buttons on MSIE

3.  Click on Read Mail 

4.  Click on Mail 

5.  Click on Options 

6.  Click on Server Tab.  The window below should appear.

 

7.  Enter your "real" name in the Name box. 

8.  Enter your "business name" if applicable, or leave the Organization window blank if you wish

9.  Enter your email address in the Email Address box using your username in lieu of the word username (lowercase only) 

10. In the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) box enter the information just as it appears in the graphic above (smtp.crosslink.net) without the ( ).

11. In the Incoming Mail (POP3) box, enter your username.pop.crosslink.net I.E.: (fred.pop.crosslink.net) without the ( )

12. In the POP3 Account box, enter ONLY your username (do NOT enter your email address: I.E., NO @crosslink.net) (lowercase only)

13.  Enter your password.  Enter it carefully, and you will only see asterisks. Make sure you enter lowercase only letters 

14.  Click the Advanced Settings… button 

15.  Enter your email address (username@crosslink.net) in the Reply To box.

16.  Click OK to exit the Advanced Settings… window 

17.  Now, click the Send tab at the top of the window and the next window will come up.

You will see a number of black checks in the boxes. Make sure that the ones you see checked above are all checked on your screen.

Then you can click OK to exit the Server Setup and you will be ready to send and receive Internet Mail.
