Getting Online With Us

 

Netscape Navigator 3.01 Email Setup

Note: This is not the setup for Netscape Communicator 4.0 or Navigator 4.0. For those instructions, please click here.

Please read the following instructions completely and follow them exactly!

The following instructions are for seting up/changing the mail preferences in Netscape (Netscape Navigator Gold 3.01).   If you have an earlier version of Netscape (2.0 or less), we suggest that you download a current version. You can get that by clicking here.

Mail Server Setup 

1.  Start Netscape. 
2.  Click Options at the top of the Netscape window.
3.  Click Mail and News Preferences. 
4.  Click the Servers Tab at the top of the window and the following screen will appear.

In this window, you should enter the following information in the applicable boxes:

Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Sever: smtp.crosslink.net

Incoming Mail (POP3) Server: your username.pop.crosslink.net

POP3 User Name: your username

Click the empty circle to the right of Check for Mail: and enter the number 20 in the empty box to the left of the word minutes.

News (NNTP) Server: news.crosslink.net

Make sure that everything is correct or you will not be able to send and recieve email.

Now click the Identity tab at the top of the window and the following screen will appear.

Fill in all the blanks as shown above substituting your information for the generic stuff that is in the boxes.

Your Name: Your Real Name with upper and lower case letters

Your Email: your username@crosslink.net

Reply-to-Address: your username@crosslink.net

Your Organization: The name of your company if you wish.

Now click the Organization tab and the following screen will appear.

 
Click the box to the left of Remember Mail Password if it does not already have a black check in it. Continue by making all the settings the same as above.

This completes your Netscape Mail and News setup.

Now you should go click Options at the top of the Netscape man window again. The following screen will come up.

This time click "Network Preferences".

Then click the "Cache" tab and clear both your disk cache and your memory cache by clicking each of the buttons and then clicking "OK".

Now click the main "OK" box at the bottom of the window.

This should complete the mail setup of your Netscape Navigator. 

Shut down all programs, restart your computer and you will be able to send and receive email from Netscape Navigator.
