Microsoft
Outlook Express Email Setup
Please read the
following instructions very carefully!
It is very important that you follow these instructions to the
letter.
The instructions
on these pages are for setting up MS Outlook Express. If the
screens don't match the written instructions that were given
to you at sign up after clicking on the "Internet"
Icon on your desktop. These instructions are for setting up
the mail preferences in Internet Explorer (specifically Internet
Explorer version 4.0 and above).
1.
Start MS Outlook Express by double clicking "Outlook Express"
Icon on your desktop.

From the screen below click TOOLS and
then ACCOUNTS

- After
clicking ACCOUNTS the next screen below will
come up.

At this
point, you may have to click ADD and setup
a new mail profile. They will just ask you some general information.
Once you have that setup, then come back to the above screen
and click the PROPERTIES button on the right
hand side. If you already have your profile setup, then simply
just click PROPERTIES to continue.The following
screen will appear. Make sure you select the GENERAL
tab and fill in the blanks as below, using all lower case letters.
Substitute "Your real name here" with
your real name, spelled out in both upper and lower case letters
if you wish. Same with "Your company name here".
In the Email address and Reply address blanks, you
should input your real email address. For instance, if your
login name is virginia, then those blanks should say virginia@crosslink.net
all in lower case letters. Once you have completed this screen,
click the SERVERS tab at the top.

On this
screen enter your SMTP and POP3 information, which is comprised
of your username.pop.crosslink.net (make sure you use
lower case letters and your username). Enter the following
in the Outgoing mail (SMTP) box: smtp.crosslink.net,
exactly like that, no CAPS. Then go down the screen to the Incoming
Mail Server area. Make sure that there is a black dot
to the left of Log on using and enter
your username and your password,
using all lower case letters, NO CAPS. Make
sure all other things on this screen appear just as they are
below.

Finally,
click the CONNECTION tab and select Connect using my
phone line as your connection type. Below that make
sure that your have the correct Dial up connection selected.
Then just click OK and you are done setting
up Outlook Express as your mail client. It is best to restart
your computer at this point so that all the new settings you
have entered will be saved.
