Data
Circuit Services
High bandwidth data circuits
are the most cost effective solution for customers with moderate to large networks
or bandwidth intensive applications, like video conferencing or extremely high
volume internal web servers.
- Point-to-Point
Traditional Point-to-Point data circuits provide a direct circuit (dedicated
wiring path) between the customer's location and the nearest Eagles Nest/CrossLink
location. Since the circuit is dedicated, the customer always has a direct,
full bandwidth connection to the Internet.
- Frame Relay
Modern high speed telephone company switching equipment now makes it possible
to use Frame Relay data circuit technology to achieve the high speed, full bandwidth
performance as a Point-to-Point data circuit at a fraction of the cost.
A Frame Relay data circuit
is installed between the customer's site and the telephone company local "CO"
(local equipment location). The telephone company uses modern high speed switching
equipment to route traffic between the customer's "CO," and the "CO" serving
the CrossLink POP site.
Frame Relay is less expensive
because the telephone company can allocate resources (bandwidth and equipment)
on demand instead of allocating the bandwidth and equipment to a full time
Point-to-Point data circuit. This reduces the telephone company's operating
cost, and the typical savings of between $200.00 and $300.00 a month, based
on mileage, is passed on to the customer.
Reasons to use Eagles Nest Data Circuit Services
- CrossLink offers
56k, fractional T1 and T3, and full T1 and T3 data circuits. T1 data circuits
are available in fractions of 128k, 256k, 512k and 768k. Any fractional T1
data circuit can be upgraded to a higher bandwidth within hours.
- Data circuits are monitored
24 hours a day, 7 days a week by the telephone company. Data circuits are
considered a premium service and are quickly repaired should a problem ever
occur.
- Data circuits offer
faster response times, with up to a hundred times less latency than analog
dial-in access.
- Data circuits are extremely
efficient. Data is transmitted in frames of up to 4,000 bytes of data. Only
8 bytes of each frame is used for addressing and overhead. With other types
of access, like ISDN, data is transmitted in smaller blocks and as much as
twenty percent of bandwidth can be lost to addressing and overhead.
- We offer a complete
single source turnkey data circuit solution. Eagles Nest''s data circuit packages
include data circuit installation, support of the telephone company data circuit,
bandwidth into the Internet, router, CSU / DSU, equipment setup and maintenance,
equipment firmware upgrades, and Static IP addresses, as required.
- We order the customer's
data circuit from the telephone company and coordinates installation. Installation
of a data circuit usually requires between three and five weeks. Router installation,
to provide TCP/IP via a 10BaseT Ethernet port, is scheduled for between one
to three days after the telephone company installs the data circuit.
- We provide comprehensive
support for all equipment provided by us, including configuration, maintenance,
a replacement spare should the equipment ever fail, and any upgrades recommended
by the manufacturer during the term of this agreement and any extensions thereof.
- We provide telephone
technical support during normal business hours, and telephone access to the
our Network Operations Center for any emergencies.
- We provide domain name
registration paperwork and transfer processing paperwork for up to three domains
at no charge. For additional domains, there is a fee of $20.00 per domain
for domain name registration and transfer processing. A domain name registration
fee of $70.00 for two years is billed by and is payable directly to Network
Solutions (the domain name registration service). After two years, Network
Solutions charges $35.00 per year per domain name.
Customer Data Circuit Responsibilities
- Customer must
provide space and electric power for equipment to be installed at their location.
- Customer must provide
a 10BaseT cable from a port on their network hub to the router.
- Customer is responsible
for any telephone company time and material or other charges incurred if the
data circuit must be extended within their location (inside wiring) because
the router is to be installed more than three (3) feet from the telephone
company termination point in their building (demarcation point).
- Customer is responsible
for installing adequate memory in workstations, using a currently supported
version of the Operating System, installing and configuring browser software
on workstations, and training staff to configure and use browser and E-mail
software. These services are usually provided by the customer's CrossLink
reseller. These services are billed directly by and payable directly to the
customer's CrossLink reseller.

After acknowledgment, a
circuit order is placed with the telephone company.
If circuits in the customer's
area have been pre-qualified, the telephone company responds with a circuit
installation date in five to ten days. If circuits in the customer's area have
not been pre-qualified, then the telephone company sales office sends the order
to their provisioning department to determine if an existing circuit is available,
or if a new one will need to be installed. The telephone company usually responds
with an installation date within ten to fifteen days in areas where circuits
were not pre-qualified. In rare instances, the telephone company does not have
the facilities (equipment, wire, etc.) to install the circuit, and the circuit
order can't be processed until the telephone company upgrades its facilities.
Actual circuit installation
is usually scheduled between ten to fifteen days after the telephone company
responds with an installation date. Total time to install most data circuits
is usually three to five weeks.
Router installation and
circuit testing are usually scheduled two to three days after the telephone
company has installed the data circuit.
Order status can be checked
by following the instructions which accompany the acknowledgment of receipt
of the order.
