Architectural Information

There are two general types of jobs we do. The first is a large governmental project which the architect and structural engineer have done all the work on the design of the trusses. In these type projects, we most generally price the job and bid it to the general contractors that are bidding the job. Since wood is an art form unlike concrete and steel, we usually have the structural drawings reviewed by our professional engineer to make sure before we bid the job that they will work in principal (note: we are a bunch of little old ladies who are very particular and like to sleep at night knowing that we have produced responsible bids). Since there is usually time during the bidding process we coordinate with the general contractors, making our comments as needed. We will note items which can be improved upon, especially concerning how the trusses will look (again, we are going for structural integrety as well as a good looking product, and we forward our comments to the architect if the contractors allow us to).

The second type job we do is "design/build". In this type project we are given a sketch of the trusses, no plate details, no engineering, no design at all. We work closely with the owners, architect and engineer on this type job. We help the architects with structural limits, sizes of timbers, web designs, etc. Our professional engineer then designs the trusses with a complete understanding of what the owner and architect desire and we show them how to get to that end. Our job in this type project is to provide the owner and architect with a first class product which will be a showcase that the owner will be happy with for years to come.

Remember, we produce timber trusses that are both strong and sturdy structurally, as well as being fine furniture quality building parts. We take a lot of pride in our work, knowing that people will be viewing and enjoying them for years and years!
