Work by Jack and Judy Witt

In today's world we are often bombarded with violent and sensational imagery which focuses on the unhealthy and shadowlike qualities of human beings. In an attempt to balance these aspects, the Witts have focused on their everyday lives to "see" what might be sacred about the simple and the beautiful...

Jack and Judy

The Studio

Artists Jack and Judy Witt of Ashland, Virginia, have articulated their vision in a collaborative collection of books, sculpture, watercolors, prints, and greeting cards that celebrate the sacred, the magic of everyday life, and the healing power of art. Judy Witt is a watercolorist and writer, and her husband, Jack Witt, a poet and sculptor. The Sylvan, written and illustrated with Judy's mystical watercolor images, and Jack's collection of poems, Roses Are Red...and White are available, and both have already drawn a devoted readership.

A collaborative collection of poems, illustrations and essays, titled Goshen, is in progress and planned for release soon. In addition to displaying their artwork in exhibitions, permanent private and public collections, and in their own Hide Park Gallery in Ashland, VA they are now offering their lively, informative, and enlightening multi-media presentation to audiences at libraries, museums, conferences, art centers, and healthcare institutions. Their presentation has been a delight to a variety of audiences.

JACK WITT earned a B.A. in English from Virginia Military Institute. He received classical training in painting and drawing as an apprentice under Eugene Califano in Taos, New Mexico. She coauthored The Center Ring, a book about therapeutic clowning and the philosophy of the Fool, published in 1992. She works primarily in watercolor, a medium that captures the charm of her complex and ethereal designs. Judy's work has appeared in numerous exhibitions, including one man shows, throughout Virginia, and in California. Her work is part of a number of permanent collections, both public and private.
